She said she came out to support Allied
Waste because she thinks they are efficient and hardworking and she has been
impressed. She questioned people's loyalty to the agencies that they have used and
suggested residents be asked how they might like things to improve.
Charles Krystofiak, a resident of Redwood Shores, stated that he has seen the level of
service decline with missed pickups, messes left after pickups, cans being inconsistently
emptied, and how he has been unable to get a live customer service representative on
the phone. He stated his belief that the current noncompetitive nature of Allied Waste
has led to complacency.
Jeff Silvestri, an employee of Norcal Waste since 1983, stated that he and the twenty-one
other employees in Redwood City think it is a great company to work for and that they are
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 8, 2008
MINUTES PAGE 9
MINUTE BOOK NO. 62
Page No. 224
