STAFF REPORTS - <br /> <br />A. New General Plan Monthly Status Report. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Review document. No action required. <br /> <br />Jill Ekas, Planning Manager, recapped the events of the last Community Forum on <br />September 27, 2008 (presentation on file). Mr. Passanisi, Principal Planner, shared <br />additional details about the day. He also explained the timeline and restated that staff is <br />committed to this process being inclusive and on schedule. He announced an online <br />survey that will be available to those who were not able to make it to the workshop. A <br />video of the event was shown (on file). <br /> <br />Mayor Foust thanked the staff and the community for the process. All Council Members <br />were appreciative of how much the community participated and how much staff effort went <br />into this event. <br /> <br />B. JOINT STUDY SESSION- City Council/Civic Cultural Commission. <br /> <br />This is an information-sharing discussion between the City Council and the Civic <br />Cultural Commission. No action required. <br /> <br />The goals of both the City Council and the Civic Cultural Commission (CCC) for the <br />joint study session are: <br />1. To share historical public art information (Redwood City and other cities); <br />2. Identify how public art relates to and/or supports City Council priorities; <br />3. Share the CCC public art goals and process; <br />4. Determine what support, both financial and community is available for <br />public art; <br />5. Discuss the City Council's interests and desires as it relates to public art <br />and identify next steps. <br /> <br />The Mayor provided some contextual information regarding why this session is important <br />at this time. Mayor Foust asked that three items be kept in mind: current economic <br />climate, the General Plan process and its cultural element, and the fact that art is in the <br />eye of the beholder and it can be controversial.
