STAFF REPORTS - <br /> <br />Council Member Aguirre introduced the item saying this is the result of a multi-year <br />study and she thanked the work of previous Councils including Assembly Member Ira <br />Ruskin. <br /> <br />Peter Vorametsanti, Acting Engineering and Building Manager, welcomed the speakers <br />Mr. Richard Napier and Mr. John Hoang. Mr. Napier thanked the Redwood City staff <br />for its continued support and attention to the matter. Mr. Hoang shared the purpose of <br />the study and the alternatives (presentation on file). Council posed questions of the <br />speakers. One Council Member thanked Redwood City staff for its involvement and <br />expertise in specific Mr. Chang, Mr. Vorametsanti and consultant Richard Haygood. <br /> <br />A. 2020 Peninsula Gateway Corridor Study Final Report - John Hoang, <br />Transportation System Coordinator, with C/CAG (Presentation). <br />Staff Report - Information Only. <br />City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo (C/CAG) presentation of <br />the 2020 Peninsula Gateway Corridor Study Final Report and draft action plan. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Acknowledge the completion of the subject final report and support the future <br />development of Phase 2 of this effort. <br /> <br />B. Status Report on C/CAG effort on the Smart Corridor Project - Richard Napier, the <br />Executive Director of C/CAG (Presentation). <br />Staff Report - Information Only <br />Status Report on the San Mateo County City/County Association of Governments' <br />effort on the Smart Corridor Project. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Consider this information Only Report and the companion presentation by C/CAG <br />staff in preparation of authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of <br />Understanding related to this effort which will be presented at the November 24, <br />2008 council meeting. <br /> <br />Richard Napier presented the report (presentation on file). He explained the goals <br />of this project which included finding alternate routes for those who are stuck in a <br />traffic situation and providing signage that will help clarify options. Jean Sadaki <br />explained that this is a joint effort with multiple jurisdictions. She covered the <br />objectives as well as the upcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). <br /> <br />Council Member Hartnett agreed with having the MOU come back for Council <br />approval. It was asked where the data would be fed from for the freeway signs and <br />Mr. Napier said that this would possibly be a centralized county location. <br /> <br />C.
