He also believes the goal <br />and intent tonight is to create solutions based on future views and not focused on past <br />views. He explained that civic imagination and political will - will need to go hand in hand. <br />Mayor Foust thanked the Planning staff and she also supports more measurable statistics <br />on environmental issues and is open toinnovative ideas such as floating communities. <br />She highlighted the fact that an election breeds competition and it is not a positive issue. <br />Mayor Foust proposed inviting the various community groups to craft options that marry <br />and blend the best of both worlds. The Mayor said that it does not have to be a <br />competition with winners and losers but the focus should be on the end result and the <br />quality of life for the community. <br /> <br />8. PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />A. General Plan and Zoning Map Amendments for Properties in the Vicinity of Cedar <br />and Main Streets. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />(1). Approve, by Resolution, an amendment to the Strategic General Plan <br />Land Use Map changing the General Plan Land Use designation of <br />the following three properties from "Heavy Commercial" to "Heavy <br />Commercial-Mixed Use Residential:" 104 and 112 Cedar Street (APN <br />053-188-050 and 053-188-060, respectively); 128-132 Cedar Street <br />and 1406 Main Street (053-188-010); and 1414 Main Street (APN 053- <br />188-020). <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14911 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF REDWOOD CITY <br />TO AMEND THE STRATEGIC GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY TO <br />CHANGE THE GENERAL PLAN LAND USE MAP TEXT OF PROPERTIES <br />GENERALLY LOCATED IN THE VINCINITY OF CEDAR AND MAIN STREETS TO <br />"HEAVY COMMERCIAL-MIXED USE" <br /> <br />(2).
