A. 2020 Peninsula Gateway Corridor Study Final Report - John Hoang, <br /> Transportation System Coordinator, with C/CAG (Presentation). <br /> Staff Report — Information Only. <br /> City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo (C/CAG) presentation of <br /> the 2020 Peninsula Gateway Corridor Study Final Report and draft action plan. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Acknowledge the completion of the subject final report and support the future <br /> development of Phase 2 of this effort. <br /> B. Status Report on C/CAG effort on the Smart Corridor Project - Richard Napier, the <br /> Executive Director of C/CAG (Presentation). <br /> Staff Report — Information Only <br /> Status Report on the San Mateo County City/County Association of Governments' <br /> effort on the Smart Corridor Project. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Consider this information Only Report and the companion presentation by C/CAG <br /> staff in preparation of authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of <br /> Understanding related to this effort which will be presented at the November 24, <br /> 2008 council meeting. <br /> Richard Napier presented the report (presentation on file). He explained the goals <br /> of this project which included finding alternate routes for those who are stuck in a <br /> traffic situation and providing signage that will help clarify options. Jean Sadaki <br /> explained that this is a joint effort with multiple jurisdictions. She covered the <br /> objectives as well as the upcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). <br /> Council Member Hartnett agreed with having the MOU come back for Council <br /> approval. It was asked where the data would be fed from for the freeway signs and <br /> Mr. Napier said that this would possibly be a centralized county location. <br /> C. Status of Code Enforcement Efforts — General History of Code Enforcement, Code <br /> Enforcement of Signage, and Volunteer Program — Information Only. <br /> John La Torra, Manager Building and Inspection and Steven Solario, Code <br /> Enforcement Officer (a new hire of nine months) presented the report (presentation on <br /> file). Mr. La Torra provided statistics on volunteers that have served the Code <br /> Enforcement for the last 20 years. He explained that currently he has 16 people who <br /> are getting trained to be part of the volunteer program. He explained that code <br /> enforcement can be a delicate matter akin to social engineering because of its <br /> complexities. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Dr. Steven Howard spoke about the smart corridor and how he gets messages in his <br /> cell phone about traffic accidents. He complimented Mr. Solario for the work he has <br /> done in the last nine months.
