Motion carries unanimously by <br /> roll call vote. <br /> 9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Legislation (information only) - This sub-section involves possible discussion <br /> of City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California <br /> Cities Priority Focus Bulletin No. 44-2008. Council may direct staff to act on <br /> positions taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority <br /> Focus available in City Clerk's Department). <br /> B. City Council Member Report of Conference/Meeting Attendance. <br /> C. Council Reports on Committee Meetings Attended. <br /> 1. Council Member Aguirre (none). <br /> 2. Council Member Bain — reported driving on Middlefield road and he saw the <br /> restriping and it looks much improved. He explained that the process was <br /> positive as well. He also spoke about placing a stop sign at Vera and how <br /> there is a petition circulating. He provided details on the upcoming <br /> components of such project. <br /> 3. Council Member Hartnett — spoke about high speed rail bonds passing on <br /> the ballot and he explained that the CalTrain corridor might be positioned to <br /> be the first place to have high speed rail. He would like to get more formal <br /> information from CalTrain on the matter in terms of station size, location, <br /> parking requirements, access etc. <br /> 4. Council Member Ira (none). <br /> 5. Council Member Pierce — she agreed with the comments made by Council <br /> Member Hartnett and she asked for an ad hoc committee of Council <br /> Members. <br /> There was a suggestion that first the full Council get the information and <br /> then decide on next steps. The other Council Member would also like to <br /> understand how this will work with the electrified system. Mayor Foust <br /> wanted to have the Mayor and the Vice Mayor place this on a future <br /> agenda. <br /> 6. Vice Mayor Howard — reported on attending the Villa Montgomery event <br /> celebrating not only additional housing but the fact that this project received <br /> the LEED Gold Certification. Vice Mayor Howard presented to the Mayor a <br /> chocolate hammer from First Community Housing commemorating the <br /> event. <br /> 7. Mayor Foust — Explained that this morning there was a Partners in <br /> Restoration event at Wharf Five at the Port of Redwood City. She said this <br /> was to watch the dredge material and the restoration that is happening and <br /> Supervisor Richard Gordon read a letter from Congresswoman Anna <br /> Eshoo.
