PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />A. 2008 Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) grant funds for the Redwood City <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Conduct a Public Hearing, and by resolution, authorize the expenditure of up to <br />$123,205 in Fiscal Year 2008-2009 Supplemental Law Enforcement Services <br />Funds (COPS). <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 14930 OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AUTHORIZING <br />EXPENDITURE OF UP TO $123,205 IN FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009 SUPPLEMENTAL <br />LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUNDS (COPS) <br /> <br />Police Department Administrative Sergeant Mulholland made a brief presentation to <br />Council on the matter. <br />Mayor Foust opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br /> <br />M/S Hartnett/Pierce to close the Public Hearing. Motion carries 6-0 with Council <br />Member Ira absent. <br /> <br />Council Member Pierce asked that in the future the Police Chief consider using these <br />grant funds to offset some of the costs associated with officers supporting large local <br />events. Administrative Sergeant Mulholland said staff would verify if this is possible <br />because sometimes there are rules regarding how these funds can be expanded. <br /> <br />M/S Hartnett/Howard to adopt the resolution. Motion carries 6-0 with Council Member <br />Ira absent. <br /> <br />8. STAFF REPORTS <br /> <br />A.
