<br />6.2A <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Seauoia School Cluster Pedestrian Crossina Improvement Proiect proposes to increase <br />pedestrian safety in an area served by five different elementary. middle, and high <br />schools. The number of schools in this area results in a concentration of pedestrian and <br />bicyclist activity from students. Proposed improvements include replacing worn school <br />crossings, ADA compliant curb ramps, and pedestrian warning signage. <br /> <br />North-South Bike Route Imorovements Proiect proposes to install standardized county <br />approved signage along the main bike route connecting Peninsula communities. Staff <br />has received numerous requests from bicycle commuters for better identification of the <br />route. Proposed improvements include bike route signage, bicycle detectors at <br />signalized intersections, and bike racks in downtown. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept funding from MTC and direct staff to seek other <br />funding sources. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The city will receive $141,236.00 in funding from MTC that will require matching funds <br />from the City as follows. <br />. Middlefield In-Roadway Warning Light System - MTC grant of $64,860.00 requires <br />city funding of $25,944.00 (40% of total cost estimate). City funds in the amount of <br />$100,000 are available from the Gas Tax Construction Fund, Middlefield Road <br />Improvements (Main to Jefferson), as approved and appropriated in the FY 2008- <br />2009 budget. <br />. Sequoia School Crosswalk Cluster - MTC grant of $33,584.00 requires city funding <br />of $6,717.00 (200/0 of total cost estimate). City funds in the amount of $250,358.92 <br />are available from the Traffic Mitigation Fees Fund, ADA Ramp Program, as <br />approved and appropriated in the FY 2008-2009 budget. <br />. Improvements to the North-South Bicycle Route - MTC grant of $42,792.00 <br />requires city funding of $8,558.00 (20% of total cost estimate). City funds in the <br />amount of $69,689.86 are available from the Traffic Mitigation Fees Fund, <br />Bicycle/Pedestrian Enhancement Program, as approved and appropriated in the FY <br />2008-2009 budget. <br /> <br />Receipt of MTC "TDA Article 3" grant funding is anticipated in FY 2009-2010.
