June 22, 24�9 SUBJECT Awar� of Cantract- Redwood C�ty Recycled Water Project— P'hase I —Redwood Shores Custome�- Site Retrof�ts — Bid Package 3 RECOMMENDA7`tON By motion, appro�e the Contract Documents and award the Contrac#for the Redwood City Recycled Wa#er Project — Phase I — Redwood Shores Cus#omer Site Retrofits — Bid Package 3 Project#o the lowes#responsible bidder,ValieyCrest Landscape Maintenance, �nc. of San Jose, California, for their responsi�e and responsible low bid of$21'[,483.04 and authorize the City Manager to increase the contrac#amount up to 10% if necessary. BAGKGR�UND In August 2003, the Ciiy Council approved a broadly defined, #lexible recycled water project,filed a California Environmental Quality Act Notice of Determination, and formed a citizen community task force #o provide input on the implementation of the project. ln March z�04, #he City Council accepted the Task Force Report and directed staff#o return with recommended action #o implement. The Redwoad City Recycled Water Project will be implemented in phases and smaller, discrete projects over the next several years, beginning with some recycled water delivery in the 2007 irrigation season. The major components of the Projec# are as follow. 1. Treatmen#impravemenfis consisting of filter modifications, chemica!feed addition and fil#ered water line at the SBSA si�e --owned and operated by South Baysid� System Authoriiy (SBSA}. Status: 1�0% comp�ete and �n service. 2. Disinfection facilitv consisting of new chlorine contac# chambers at the SBSA site — owned by the City and operated by SBSA. Status: 100% complete and in sen►ice. 3. St�qe and pumpin�facilities focated within the SBSA pfant property(includes a back- up supply line for potable wa#er}—owned and operated by the City. Status: 1�0% complefie and in senrice. 4. Distribution sYstem consisting of new transmission pipelines throughout the water service area, in street rights-of-ways — owned or with the right to construct in, and opera#ed by the City. Status: Phase E Bid Packages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 are 140% constructed. Bid Package 8 is under construction. The last bid package - Bid Package 5A, wil[ be available for bidding nex# month.
