New par�nerships resulted in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Telecas# of the <br /> opening ceremonies, Fiestas Patrias (which attracted an estimated <br /> 230fl people), and an Asian Street Fair. The "Second Saturday Art <br /> VIlalks" proved ta be a regional draw and also brought a trolley to <br /> downtown. <br /> e. Four cultural concerts fea#ured performers from Ghana, Russia, and <br /> the Middle East. <br /> f. A $50,0�0 grant from Target funded four family Sunday events. <br /> 2. Downtown Banner Program <br /> a. A total of 242 vertical banners were designed and fabricated, <br /> celebrating the holidays, downtown WOW events, the Latino Fiim <br /> Festival, the Farmer's Market, Target e�ents and the tibrary. <br /> b. Horizonta! banners were also designed and fabricated for special <br /> events, including the Pet Parade, Immigrant's Festi�al, Latino Film <br /> Festiva! and Target e�ents, among others. <br /> 3. Grand Boulevard Initiatfve (GBt) <br /> Involvement in the regional GBI supported the carridor planning of the <br /> General Plan update process and inciuded: � <br /> a. Staff support to the Working Committee, facilitating City �nput regarding <br /> Caltrans design„ the Economic and Housing Opportunities <br /> Assessment {ECH4} grant application, the Multimoda! Transportation <br /> Plan and the preparation of the GBl Progress Report. <br /> b. Planning and scheduling the one-day forum "New Realities, New <br /> Choices" scheduled for June ZOt�'. <br /> c. Guidance related to the construction project for ECR between <br /> Broadway and Brewster to meet the deadlines related to the federal <br /> funding of $388, ��0. Tota! cost for this project is now estimated at <br /> $1,5fi4,000. An additional $774,0�0 in grant funding has been secured <br /> by Engineering staff, augmenting the MTC federal funding, over <br /> $300,Q00 in RDA funding and $200,000 in City capital funding. <br /> Pending approval of minor issues with Caltrans, �his project wi[I be <br /> ready to go out to bid in FY 20�9/10. <br /> � d. tmplementation of Downtown Precise Plan. <br /> The lawsuit and court ruling reversed the implementation of the DPP <br /> development regulations and new zoning, primariiy contained in Book fi. <br /> 5 <br />
