A new Request for Proposal (RFP} was issued �or the Courthouse <br /> Square pavilions and lease negotia#ions for two new vendors are being <br /> finalized. <br /> b. A re#ail vacancy anaiysis was compie#ed and is now being expanded to <br /> include both occupied spaces and retail businesses and vacancies <br /> throughout the DPP area. <br /> c. Finally, in spite of the economy and the continued vacancies in the <br /> cinema complex and the c�osing of businesses, several new business <br /> have opened in the downtown, incfuding Martin's West Pub and the <br /> Deseo's Tequita Lounge and restauran# on Main St., Ed's Sub Cenfer � <br /> and Yakamoto's on Broadway, Subway on Wllinsiow, Donafo's on <br /> Middlefield. New otfice tenants include Socia� Concepts, Vuze and <br /> 111umenta. Peace, a new retail store specializing in active wear will be <br /> opening in July in the 2600 block of Broadway. This store is a new <br /> venue for the owners of Pickled, the women's clothing store on <br /> Broadway. DB Shoes afso opened after its predecessor Shoe Pavilion <br /> closed in the same space. Several of the new tenan#s (bo�h restaurant <br /> and office} were previously located in Men�o Park and Palo Alto. <br /> 6. Train Station Area Planning <br /> The Ciiy's station area planning efforts for FY 2008/09 were put on hold <br /> pending implementation of the co!laborative process for HSR/Caltrain <br /> Electrification.. <br /> 7. Code Enforcement � <br /> Code �enforcement efforts related to signage, trash recep#acles and <br /> compliance with sidewalk ca#e permits continued. In addition to helping <br /> maintain the attractiveness of downtown, these efforts ha�e proven to be an <br /> effective way to communica#e with down#own businesses, property owners <br /> and residents. Code enforcement effor#s have afso been intensified in the <br /> neighborhoods adjacent to down#own. <br /> 8, lmproved Connectivity Befinreen The Downtown, Adjacent <br /> Neighborhoods and Transit <br /> a. The improvements to be constructed on ECR befinreen Broadway and <br /> B�ewster are focused on enhancing the pedestrian e.xperience and will <br /> include wider sidewalks, addit'ronal street trees, new pedestrian-scale <br /> lighting, new tree grates and benches, permeable pavers adjacent to <br /> cu�bs, bulb-outs to narrow pedestrian crossings, wider medians for <br /> pedestrian refuges and narrowed lanes to slow down traffic. <br /> b. The Hoaver Area Community Mability Study, which included over <br /> 12 community meetings with translation senrices, recommended new <br /> 7 <br />
