An important part of fihe Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting, scheduled for 3:I S p.m., Friday, September I S,at the San Jose Convention Center. At this meeting, the League mexnbership conside�rs and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, your city council must designate a voting delegate. Your city.may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates, one of whom may vote in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity. In order to estabiish voting delega#e/aiternates' records prior tv the conf�rence, p[ease camplete the attached Voting De�egafe form and return �t to the League's office no Iater than Friday,August 2I,2009. Please note �he following procedures that are intended to ensure the integri�y of the voting process a�the Annuai Business Meeting. • Actiion by Councii Required. Consistent with League byiaws, a city's voting delegate and up to t;wo alternates must be desi�a�ed by the city council. When completing the attached Voting Delegate form,please attach either a co�v of the council xesolution that reflects the council action taken, or have vour ei clerk or mavor si�n the form affumin.g that the names pro��ided are those selectea by the city council. Pleas�no�e that � desi�natin�he votin� dele�ate and alternates must be done bv c�tv council action and cannot be accomplished by.,,individual action of the mavor or citv mana�er alone. • Conference Regristration Required. The voting delegate and aiten�ates must be . registered to attend t�ie conference. They need not register for the entire conference;they may regis�er far Friday only. In order to cast a vate,at least one person rnust be present at the Business Mee�ing and in possession of the��oting delegate card. Voting delegates and alterna.tes need to pick up their canference badges before si�ning in and picking up � the uoting deiegat�Gard at the Vot�ng Deiegate Desk.
