<br />7C <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO*_ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS A MEASURE RELATED <br />TO THE CITY'S BUSINESS LICENSE TAX AT THE <br />CONSOLIDATED GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON <br />NOVEMBER 3, 2009, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />TO PREPARE AN IMPARTIAL ANALYSIS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Article V of Chapter 32 of the Redwood City <br />Municipal Code, the City currently levies a Business License Tax; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to increase the rate of the City's <br />Business License Tax; and <br />WHEREAS, proposed Ordinance No._, attached hereto and <br />incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "An (the "Ordinance") would <br />implement these proposed revisions to the tax; and <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Redwood City Charter, a General <br />Election shall be held on November 3, 2009, for the election of municipal officers; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to California Government Code section 53724 and <br />Elections Code section 9222, the City Council desires to submit the Ordinance to <br />the qualified electors of the City at the Election; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Ordinance No. _ is statutorily exempt from <br />CEQA pursuant to section 15273(a) of the CEQA Guidelines, as the purpose of <br />the business license tax is to meet operating expenses. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. The City Council finds and determines that each of the <br />findings set forth above are true and correct. <br />SECTION 2. The City Council proposes to impose the general taxes set <br />forth in the Ordinance. The rate of the tax, the specified businesses subject to <br />the tax, the method of tax calculation, and the maximum amount of tax are set <br />forth in Sections 32.156,32.157, and 32.158, and 32.159 of the Ordinance.
