and asphalt repair for the 10 locations. The excavating estimates will be submitted to the City under a
separate letter.

V&A will be on-site during excavation to attach the test leads to the pipelines and measure ultrasonic
thickness of the exposed pipelines. Phase I will determine the existing condition of the pipelines,
determine if the corrosion monitoring systems require rehabilitation prior to installation of the cathodic
protection system and determine if the pipelines are suitable for installation of the cathodic protection
system.

Phase I will determine the type of cathodic protection system that is appropriate for each pipeline and
determine if there is other work that should be included with the installation of the cathodic protection
system. Phase II will involve the design of the cathodic protection system for the two pipelines. The
preliminary scope of work for Phase II is indicated below. The final scope of work and fee for the
cathodic protection design will be determined during Phase I.

SCOPE OF WORK

Task Description

Phase I - Pipeline Evaluation

1. Document Review - Review the pipeline alignment, leak reports, geotechnical reports and
available drawings and documents for the pipelines.

2. Initial Field Evaluation - Perform an evaluation to locate test stations and test points, and
to measure baseline potentials at accessible test points. Test methods will be determined
in the field and will be based on access to test points. Proposed methods include:

. Pipe-to-soil potentials
· Current requirement tests
· Electrical continuity tests

3. Test Station Locations - Indicate the locations for installation of new pipeline test stations.
Centerline location and excavation of the pipelines will be completed by others in
accordance with City standards. Approximately 10 test stations will be installed, however
the quantity and locations will be determined during the initial field evaluation. Proposed
test stations will be at critical locations including:

· 800 to 1000-foot intervals for the buried length of the pipelines
. Ends of the metallic pipelines
. Buried insulating joint locations

4. Test Station Installation and Direct Assessment - Measure the remaining wall thickness
and corrosion pit depths of the exposed pipelines using an ultrasonic thickness meter and
pit depth gauge.
