5. Detailed Field Evaluation - Perform electrical continuity testing, electrical isolation testing and cathodic protection current requirement testing. The new test stations will be used as contact points to the 8-inch and 16-inch pipelines. The detailed testing will be used as the basis for the design of the cathodic protection systems for the pipelines. 6. Letter Report - Submit a summary of the results of the preliminary and final field evaluations, test station installation and direct assessment. Provide conclusions and recommendations for corrosion control of the pipelines for the City's review and comment. Phase II - Cathodic Protection System Design The preliminary scope of work for this phase is indicated below. The final scope of work may change from what is indicated but will be determined after the completion of Phase I. 1. Plans and Specifications - Prepare Details in AutoCAD format and Technical Specification Section 13110 "Cathodic Protection" for the cathodic protection system. 2. Opinion of Probable Cost - Prepare an opinion of probable cost for the construction of the cathodic protection system. 3. Assistance During Bidding - Provide assistance during bidding to review catalog cuts, respond to RFl's and review material submittals. 4. Assistance During Construction - Provide assistance during construction to review catalog cuts, respond to RFl's, review material submittals and provide on-site assistance. We propose to complete this work on a time and materials basis at a total cost not to exceed $34,400 with terms of net 30 days for Phase I. A separate estimate will be provided for the excavations and V&A may request prepayment of the Contractor's invoice. A preliminary estimate for Phase II is $25,000. This fee is valid for 90 days from the date of this proposal. The scope of work was developed as a result of our discussion and represents our mutual understanding. Estimated costs for the above project scope are itemized in the attached Resource Allocation Estimate. These costs represent our best estimates at this time and may change subject to future developments during the project. It is possible that some of the estimated manpower requirements for specific task items may increase while others may not require the entire anticipated effort. This provides us a greater degree of confidence in the overall project estimate, rather than in any given particular task. If unforeseen circumstances should arise which indicate that more time is required, we would provide a written estimate of additional required time and cost. We will not proceed with work beyond the not to exceed figure without a written authorization from your office. Charges to this project will be made for actual time spent on the project and will be charged as per the attached Fee Schedule. We request that you carefully review this proposal to assure that we fully understand the scope of the work. Our Fee Schedule is adju.sted annually in January. Fees will be adjusted at that time and a new Fee Schedule will be sent. Charges on the remainder of the project will be based on the new schedule.
