Bortolotto & Co., <br />Inc. of San Carlos, for their responsive and responsible low bid of $578,096.39 and <br />authorize the City Manager to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of <br />the amount awarded. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The 2008-2009 Street Overlay Project is part of the City's Roadway Management <br />System (RMS) Program, which performs on-going pavement repair and replacement. <br />The purpose of this project is to resurface the segments of Jefferson Avenue located <br />north of Farm Hill Boulevard, and Roosevelt Avenue between Upton Street and <br />Alameda de las Pulgas. Additionally, curb ramps will be installed to increase pedestrian <br />accessibility along the project corridor. Please see attached project location map. <br /> <br />A federal grant totaling $736,000.00 has been awarded for the work of this specific <br />project as a result of staff's timely application for American Recovery and Reinvestment <br />Act of 2009 (ARRA) funds. <br /> <br />Six (6) bids were received for the 2008-2009 Street Overlay Project on July 1, 2009, <br />and are summarized in the table below. <br /> <br /> Bidder Bid Amount <br />G.
