6.1 B <br /> Page 1 <br /> R���������' <br /> To��#�e��lonor�bie��a��� and� ��#y:�ou�.��l <br /> From #h� �C�� .:����r���- er <br /> August 3, 2009 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Award of Contract - Redwood City Recycled Water Project — Phase I — Seaport <br /> Distribution System- Bid Package 5A (Herkner Road and Cen#ral Concrete Driveway) <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve, by motion, the con#ract documents and award #he contrac# for the Redwood <br /> City Recycled Water Project— Phase I —Seaport Distributaon System — Bid Package 5A <br /> Projec# to the lowest responsible bidder, J&M, lnc., o# Li�er�more, for their responsive <br /> and responsible low bid of $236,478.25 and authvrize the City Manager to increase the <br /> contra�t amount up to 1 a% if necessary. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> ln August 2003,� the Ciiy Counc�l approved a broadly defined, flexible recycled water <br /> project, filed a California Environmental Quaiity Act Notice of Determination, and €ormed <br /> a citizen community task force to provide input on the implementation of the project. !n <br /> March 2044, the City Councii accepted the Task Force Report and directed staff to <br /> retu�-n with recommended action to implement. <br /> lmplementation of the Redwood City Recycled Vl/a#er Project is scheduled in phases <br /> and smaller, discrete projects o�er the next several years. The first completed phase <br /> supplied recycled water�or the 20�7 irrigatEOn season. Major components of the project <br /> are as follow. <br /> 1. Treatment impro�ements consisting of filte� mod�cations, chemical feed addition <br /> and fil#ered water line at the SBSA site — owned and operated by South Bayside <br /> System Authority (SBSA}. <br /> Status: 100% complete and in service. <br /> 2. Disinfection facil�tv cons�sting of new chlorine con#act chambers at the SBSA si#e — <br /> owned by the cit�r and operated by SBSA. <br /> Status: 'f 00% complete and in service. <br /> 3. Storage and aumpinq facili#ies loca#ed within #he SBSA plant property (inc�udes a <br /> back-up supply fine for potabfe water)—owned and operated by the city. <br /> Status: 100% complete and in service. <br /> 4. Distribution system consisting of new transmissiort pipelines throughout the water <br /> service area, in s�reet rights-of-ways — owned or have the r�ght to construcfi in, and <br /> operated by the city. <br /> Status: Phase I Bid Packages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 are 100% constructed. Bid <br /> Package 8 is under construction. This Bid Package — 5A, is the [ast distribution <br /> main pipe package planned for Phase 1. <br />
