The�evee surrounding the San Carlos airport varies in <br /> elevation frorn about 9.5 to 12.0. A section in the soutllern portion of the airport is wit�un <br /> the"safety area". This section of the levee will be designed wit,h a temporary measuxe <br /> such as an inf�atabl.e bladder. The ot,her sections of the levee outside the"safety area"wi11 <br /> be increased to meet FEMA requi.rements,based on recommendations from Moffatt& <br /> Nichol: 4vera1l limits of levee impravements;addressed.iri thi�proposal, are shown on�lie <br /> attached exhibit. <br /> SC4PE 4F SERVICE <br /> Task 1.Data Collection �.nd Alternative Evaluations <br /> Task la. Coordination <br /> BKF will attend one coordination meeting with City and County staff to discuss design <br /> concepts and cons�raints. <br /> BKF wil�coordinate with the City of Redwood City,City of 5an Carlos,County of San <br /> Mateo, San Carlos Airport,the Airport's FA.A.consultan�,and oth�r consultants as needed. <br /> We asswne communication will be mainl.y via e-mail and telephone. Covrdination will <br /> include preparing exhibits,as needed,to convey design intent and gain consensus. <br /> Task ib. Data Collection <br /> BKF'wiil perfvrm a si�e walk to revi.ew the constraints. <br /> BKF will review the geotechnical report and recommendations from ENGEO. <br /> No additional topographic survey is included as part of Task 1 b. <br /> Task lc. Preparation and Evaluation vf Alternatives <br /> Based on design details and criteria from ENGE�, BKF will prepare exhibits representing <br /> three different aiternatives; {1) earth embankment benn, (2) earth e�bankment or AC <br /> overlay for entire roadway width, and�3}CMU retaining wa�l. �xnprovement goa�s wiil be <br /> to increase the he�ght vf the levees while fiaking into account future settl�ment. The <br /> rninimum Ie�ee erest ele�ation is assumed to be NAVDSS elevation 11.8.
