The purpose of our s�udy is to assist the design team in <br /> evaluating the improv�ments of the San Carlos Auport ievee system to comply with current <br /> FEMA standards. We unde�stand the improvernents wi11 be designed to tie into the adjacent <br /> levee systems owned by the City of Redwood City (to the north} and the City of San Carlos (ta <br /> the south). We performed a site visit,re�iewed existing data for the City of Redwood City le�ee, <br /> and reviewed historic aerial photographs in preparing this proposal. <br /> Phase 2 of our proposed scope of services presented her.ein inc�udes existing data review, <br /> laboratory testing, analyses, reporting, and design assista.nce using samples collected during <br /> planned Phase I services. Phase 1 of our proposed scope of service will be presented under <br /> separate proposai and contract, and is planned to comprise the geotechnicai exploration phase of <br /> service only. <br /> Our proposed Phase 2 study is to take subsurface information and samples collected from <br /> Phase l. and pe�orm laboratory testing and analysis. This information will be used to develop <br /> recommendat�ons for use in design of improvement altematives. We understand several levee <br /> raise alternatives are being considered for the variaus locations along the exis�ing levee. <br /> Pvtential Ievee raise alternatives may include piacement of fill, a concrete masonry unit {CMU} <br /> flood wall,geoce�I units,an inflatable bladder, and vinyl sheet piles. <br /> SC�PE OF SERVICES <br /> Qur Phase 2 scop� of services will inciude review of ava�lable lit�rature, geologic maps,hzstoric <br /> aerial photo�raphs, and any geotechnicai repons pertinent to the site.
