And, of course, the 50/50 Balanced Plan provides for over 400 acres of <br />actively restored tidal marsh habitats. <br />3. Community Facilities <br />Community facilities highlighted in the Statement of Justification include: <br />Schools. Saltworks envisions the potential need for as many as four new <br />elementary and one middle school appropriately distributed within the <br />Saltworks Site. Design of these facilities would reflect experts' evolving views <br />on curriculum and related physical configuration of urban campuses. <br />• Branch Library <br />+ 4 -H Club and Farm <br />• Community Garden /Edible School Yard <br />• Interpretive Environmental Education Center <br />• Tidal Marsh Restoration and Research Center <br />• Fire Station <br />• Place of Worship <br />4. Circulation <br />As a grounding principle, -the 50/50 Balanced Plan is designed to get cars off of <br />the road, not only as to future residents, but to alleviate existing congestion. <br />Simply placing a meaningful array of housing options near existing employment <br />centers is a tremendous start. <br />Building from there, the 50/50 Balanced Plan aggressively explores the potential <br />for public /private partnerships -- leveraging Saltworks' own private investment <br />commitments -- for everything from a permanent transit system integrating the <br />Saltworks Site with core City -wide destinations to home -to -work direct shuttle <br />programs with major employment campuses to innovative ride -share programs. <br />And as to existing circulation challenges (typified by the U.S. 101/woodside <br />interchange), the 50 /50 Balanced Plan reallocates traffic loads by establishing a <br />new parallel capacity road to U.S. 101 on the north, and similar proposed parallel <br />14958 <br />MUFF # 601 <br />
