minute with no commission public hearing. Plus the Staff report draft contains the
strikethroughs and underlines and is not readable and confusing. Due to covid times
and no in-person council meeting, the city needs to do more public awareness
before imposing strict regulations like these. Possibly send mailers to home owners.
5. City has completely ignored the zoning density in proposing this limit. City is
strictly going by Mt Carmel neighborhood complaints which does not represent the
Redwood City and proposing this blanket approach and affecting the housing for
the entire city. This blanket approach is not fair for homeowners who are already
surrounded by taller buildings. Mine is medium density zoning so there is no reason
to limit height. I have 5 story apartment building surrounded by me less than a mile,
why are the home owners restricted to 16 ft? There needs to be exceptions based on
zoning and existing current structures and density to be fair to homeowners.
6. ADU's on an average are going to cost 300-500K to build. Why should ADU be
restricted from short term rental if the homeowner has to recoup some of this
liability cost to build? The city should revisit this restriction or at least allow
short term rental for the part of the year.
Attached are the pictures of my rear yard and side yard in Stambaugh
Neighborhood. I am surrounded by 25 ft plus tall second story/ADU buildings of
my neighbors. Why should I be restricted to not have a second story and be limited
to 16 ft?
I request Mayor and City council members to please reject this attempt to limit/ban
affordable ADU housing by staff and commission.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Roper RC Homeowner
