As part of the firm's scope of work, RPPG, in partnership with City
staff created an initial draft of the City's State legislative platform. The platform was modified based on
feedback from the Governance Sub -Committee and subsequently approved by the full City Council on
April 27, 2020. This platform provided the direction needed for the City's legislative consultant to engage
on a variety of legislative proposals in 2020. The City supported and/or sponsored four pieces of legislation
that aligned with the adopted Legislative Platform; all four were enacted.
Addressing the City Council's top priorities requires a multi -layered approach. Maintaining and updating
the Legislative Platform is an important component for the City's overall legislative advocacy program. As
a living document, it is recommended that the City's Legislative Platform is reviewed and amended every
year in conjunction with the beginning of each legislative session. This will ensure that the City Council's
priorities are reflected and will allow the City's legislative consultants to engage on new State initiatives
Page 1 of 6
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
303
