Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders.
Dear Mayor and City Council: This is in regards to ADO ordinance height limits that you approved on Mar 8th.
Any reason why the alternative of 22 ft height as recommended by the city's design consultant and the city staff alternative was not accepted and approved by city council?
Plus some citycouncilmembers in this and past hearings meeting wanted to propose a motion of 22 ft which was not taken into consideration and a more restrictive height
motion was preferred and passed. Please give each council member a fair chance to represent. Looks like there is no voice for home owners and the public comments are ignored too.
Clearly this ordinance is for the Mount Carmel neighborhood. The whole Redwood City residents should not be punished because the Mount Carmel neighborhood does not want the ADU's. Council members who live
in that area are biased and are proposing the changes in their interest and not the entire Redwood City Community's interest.
I request City Council to please reevaluate these height limits and to make the minimum height to be at least 22ft.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Roper RC Homeowner
STAFFRFPORT
h s://meetsngs.redwoodcity.org/Aeend?Online/DocnmentcNiewDocument/ATTACHMENT % 20B % 20 % E2%RO%93 % 20MARCH%20R%2C%202021 % 20CTTV%2000i1NCTL%20ADO%20RTAFF%20RF_PORT.ndP
meciingid=2216&documentTypc—Agenda&itemId=5724&publishld=8049&issection false
Based on the diagrams by the city's design consultant (Attachment C) and below alternative by the city staff:
A 22 ft. ADU would allow for multiple designs for both a partial two-story ADU and
a two-story ADU with full plate heights on the entire upper floor and a pitched mof. ADUs with lower
heights could cause some architectural constraints to roof slope that may not allow an ADU to match the
architectural style of the main home.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Allow an alternative maximum height for detached ADUs of 22 ft. that would allow a full second story above a garage or a standalone two-story ADU with low-pitched roof forms.
