Exercise caution when <br />opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. <br />Mayor Howard and Redwood City Council Members: <br />Thank you for the opportunity to speak with you on this important issue. <br />My name is Alyce Desrosiers and I am the Founder and Executive Director of the <br />local 501c.3 nonprofit organization, the institute for families and nannies. lam <br />speaking with you tonight on the issue of reducing barriers to childcare access by <br />increasing the availability of childcare for Redwood City families. <br />At The Institute for Families and Nannies we provide career opportunities and <br />professional development training for nannies to provide home based childcare. Supporting <br />this segment of the childcare industry provides an available supply of care to parents needing <br />care. <br />Our Nanny Certificate to Employment program trains nannies and other childcare providers to <br />develop professional portfolios, including resume writing, job search, interview skills and <br />employment laws. We then support our students through a collaboration with Wouderschool <br />to create websites and get marketing support to find work where and when they need <br />employment. The training program is man by nannies we have trained and mentored to <br />develop their careers as role models to their peers and teachers m our programs.
