In Public Works Services, the department may have to reduce the number of
water audits that can be performed and may have to reduce the amount of
preventative maintenance performed to prevent sanitary sewer overflows. This
will make it difficult to comply with critical requirments mandated by regulatory
agencies and sanitary sewer overflows. Other areas such as the recycling
program, creek cleaning and NPDES compliance may be impacted by additional
cuts and vacancies.

Other departments have very similar impacts in terms of positions cuts and vacancies.
They include:

1. Lost opportunity for transferring knowledge between experienced employees
and a new hire.
2. Reducing the level of service provided to internal and external customers.
3. Limited capability to obtain external revenue opportunities.
4. Minimal capacity to secure external funding sources.
5. Inability to develop staff's skills and training for future assignments and
leadership opportunities.
