The toolkit was developed <br />In response to requests from city. county and school board elected officials interested in holding <br />regional events modeled after Rebuilding California-From the Ground Up. The Summit was held <br />in July in Sacramento and hosted by the CCS Partnership. <br /> <br />The toolkit and accompanying materials will be available online at www.ccsoartnershio.ora. <br /> <br />Established In 1997, the CCS Partnership is a joint effort of the League, California State <br />Association of Counties and the California School Boards Association. <br /> <br />State Auditor Releases Proposed Citizens Redistricting Commission Application <br />for Public Comment <br />Hearing to be Held Sept. 14 in Sacramento <br /> <br />California's State Auditor Elaine M. Howle has released the proposed application for the Citizens <br />Redistricting Commission (Commission) for public comment. The application will allow <br />Californians to apply for membership to the Commission. <br /> <br />The Commission was established with the passage of League supported Propostion 11. known <br />as the Voters Free Choice Act. Prop. 11 changed the process by which the State Senate, <br />Assembly. and Board of Equalization districts are drawn, transferring the responsibility to draw <br />the lines from the Legislature to a new 14-member commission made up of citizens from <br />throughout California <br /> <br />The State Auditor was charged with establishing the process for individuals to apply for <br />membership to the Commission and with selecting a panel to evaluate and select 60 of the most <br />qualified applicants. Of the pool of 60 applicants, 14 commissioners will be chosen.
