The Appropriations Committee will prioritize CPF requests with substantive
community support in the form of letters from local elected officials, local press articles or editorials, local
government resolutions, or other indications of local support.
MidPen Housing has submitted a CPF request to Congresswoman Jackie Speier to cover a portion of the
Year 1 operating costs of TownePlace Suites. MidPen Housing is seeking a letter of support from the City
Council as the project not only creates permanent housing for those disproportionately impacted by the
pandemic, but is essential to addressing the profound need for more housing. Additionally, the City is able
to count these units towards its very -low income Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) goals for the
2015 to 2023 Housing Element cycle. Included as Attachment A is the letter of support.
FISCAL IMPACT
None
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council could choose to not support Mid Pen's CPF request.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A — Letter of Support
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
151
