The Parking
Site services include a Resident Services Coordinator/external security to ensure that only authorized
users are present at the site and to address any issues that arise, and case workers to assist RV residents
in seeking social services, employment assistance and permanent housing. As of the writing of this
document, 64 permits are approved in the program right now.
In October 2019, the City started the Downtown Street Team Pilot Program. The program provides a
pathway towards jobs and housing for unsheltered homeless individuals primarily living on the street or
in encampments, while also responding to public health and safety concerns in the form of encampment
clean-ups and outreach.
Helping low-income individuals and families avoid becoming homeless, especially extremely
low-income individuals and families and those who are: being discharged from publicly
funded institutions and systems of care (such as health care facilities, mental health facilities,
foster care and other youth facilities, and corrections programs and institutions); or, receiving
assistance from public or private agencies that address housing, health, social services,
employment, education, or youth needs.
The City's core service center at the Fair Oaks Community Center is a multi -service facility offering a
variety of services to the broader Redwood City Community. Services are offered by a combination of
City staff and representatives from public and private nonprofit agencies. The following types of services
are available: child care and pre-school, crisis intervention, classes including ESL/citizenship, exercise,
art, computers, food programs, shelter referrals, housing assistance, deposit and rental assistance,
immigration and citizenship assistance, and legal services. Older adult services, including breakfast and
lunch programs, classes and other activities. Information and Referral to a variety of programs and
services. Community workers are available to talk with persons needing help deciding what services they
need. Call for more information about the full range of services available. This site is part of the core
network of community service agencies of San Mateo County and administers the Critical Family Needs
Housing Assistance Fund for the Redwood City -North Fair Oaks area. The FOCC plays a critical role in
helping prevent homelessness and as noted above, is need of repair and safety upgrades. The City plans
to use CDBG funds to make necessary improvements to the FOCC including new exterior paint, safety
upgrades to the administrative/intake area, and remodel the kitchen used by the Older Adult Activity
Center.
Discussion
Please see discussion points above.
Annual Action Plan
2021
OMB Control No: 2506-0117 (exp. 06/30/2018)
53
470
