EXHIBITA <br />SIDE LETTER BETWEEN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND <br />SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION LOCAL 521(SEIU) <br />RE: LIBRARY JOB DESCRIPTION UPDATES AND LIBRARIAN IN CHARGE DUTIES <br />This side letter is by and between City of Redwood City ("City"} and the Service Employees <br />International Union Local 521 ("Union"} (collectively referred to as the "parties"}. The side letter <br />is a tentative agreement subject to ratification of the bargaining unit and final approval of City <br />Council. <br />WHEREAS, the City and Union entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU} effective <br />February 1, 2019 - January 31, 2022; <br />WHEREAS, the parties desire to update the Library Assistant 1-11, Senior Library Assistant, and <br />Librarian 1-11 Job Descriptions in order to reflect an updated list of job duties and clarify <br />assignment and compensation for performance of "In -Charge" duties related to Library <br />operations and security; <br />NOW THEREFORE, the parties hereby agree to the following <br />1. The parties have met and conferred and agree on the attached revisions to the Library <br />Assistant 1-11, Senior Library Assistant, and Librarian 1-11 amended job specifications. <br />2. Effective the first pay period following bargaining unit ratification and City Council <br />approval of this side letter, the differential for Library Assistants 1/11 or Senior Library <br />Assistants who voluntarily accept and perform assigned in -charge duties shall be the Step <br />1 salary of the Librarian I classification or a 5% increase over current salary, whichever is <br />higher. The differential shall be paid in 15 minute increments. <br />3. Effective the first pay period following bargaining unit ratification and City Council approval <br />of this side letter, the salary schedules for Librarian I and Librarian II will be increased by one <br />and one-half percent (1.5%) in recognition of "In -Charge" duties incorporated into the <br />Librarian 1-11 job specification . <br />4. An employee will not be assigned to perform "In -Charge" duties until the employee has <br />successfully passed the applicable probationary period or has completed "In -Charge" <br />training provided by a manager.
