To <br />build upon this foundation to create an active and economically vibrant city center} the City prepared an <br />innovative} unique Precise Plan for the Downtown district. In 2007} Redwood City adopted the Downtown <br />Precise Plan to provide clear vision and direction for private and public investment actions in the <br />Downtown. The Downtown Precise Plan covers approximately 193 acres of the City}s historic center} with <br />the boundaries of Veteran}s Boulevard and the Kaiser Permanente Hospital campus to the north} Brewster <br />Avenue to the west} Maple Street to the east} and the properties just north of EI Camino Real on the south. <br />In addition to revitalizing the commercial portions of Downtown} a key component of the plan is to bring <br />housing to Downtown and maximize use of the Caltrain station. <br /> <br />The Downtown Precise Plan is flexible and form-based to facilitate innovative development approaches} <br />with densities not articulated on a parcel basis; rather} a maximum of 2}500 new units are allowed within <br /> <br />Site I nformation for Alternative Locations for the Proposed Replacement Jail <br />September 2} 2009 <br /> <br />17 <br />
