Guiding Principles for "Stanford in Redwood City" Project (Stanford University) <br /> Development Agreement. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Consider adoption of proposed guiding principles that will give direction to the <br /> negotiation process and shape the Development Agreement between the City of <br /> Redwood City and Stanford University for the "Stanford in Redwood City" <br /> development. Minute Order 09-206 <br /> Ms. Riordan, Senior Planner, gave an update on the project and reported back on some of <br /> the meetings that have been held with various Boards, Commissions and Committees as <br /> well as workshops and public hearings. She explained the development agreement and <br /> then expanded on the four Guiding Principles that have been agreed upon by the City and <br /> Stanford (presentation on file). She also highlighted the six community benefit categories. <br /> Ms. Riordan than provided an overview of next steps. <br /> David Lenox, with Stanford shared details of the plan and what had been revised to <br /> accommodate input. Steve Elliott, with Stanford also spoke about the Devetopment <br /> Agreement and how it is important to reach consensus on this document. <br /> Mayor Foust asked for Council comments and discussion. <br /> One Council Member was appreciative of the improvements and the green buffer next to <br /> the park. Another Council Member liked the integrity of the plan, its sustainability and the <br /> revisions. It was suggested by one Council Member that this could be a potential <br /> employment center for Redwood City. <br /> Council discussed adding the word "amenities" to an item on page 7A. One Council <br /> Member wanted reiterated that more specificity could be added on the employees being <br /> from Redwood City. Mayor Foust commented that she could not impose this level of <br /> specificity on the document.
