6.1 B
Page 2
encountered at the bridge have the greatest potential for impact to the project schedule
and cost. In order to avoid costly delays and contractor's overhead expenses, the
contractor was directed by staff to proceed with the work. The final change order
amount will be determined at the end of the projeet as the project team continues to
work collaboratively with the contractor to delier this project without significant delays
and additional costs associated with delays.
Anticipated change order activity (combined with change orders already issued) totals
$185,551.00 and is 20% more than the originally awarded contract amount of
$949,450.00. Council has previously authorized change order activity up to 10% of the
awarded contract amount. Staff requests that Council authorize the City Manager to
increase the contract amount up to 25% to accommodate existing and future change
order activity generated by this project.
ALTERNATlVES
Council may choose not to authorize the additional funding, which would be contrary to
prior Council action and potentially expose the City to overhead and delay damages
incurred by the contractor.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds have been appropriated from the Water Revenue Bond proceeds. The City has
issued a series of three Water Revenue Bonds to finance Phase 1 of the Recycled
Water Project. Currently available project funds, less unattributed interest, total
$6,542,358.86 as of August 31, 2009. Up to 25% of eligible construction costs of Bid
Packages 5 through 9 may be reimbursed by the State's Proposition 13 Vllater
Recycling Grant Program.
,
Phong Du, PE Brian Lee, PE
Senior Civil Engineer Supervising Civil Engineer
h
Chu Chang, PE, LEED Peter Ingram
Building, Infras#ructure and City Manager
Transportation Director
ATTACHMENTS
None
RELATED DOCUMENTS IN CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
None
