7A <br /> Redwood City's current efforts, as delineated in the following table, are consistent with Page 2 <br /> Compact goals and it is anticipated that working collaboratively, the City's efforts will be <br /> maximized. Specific examples of ways in which Redwood City's efforts align with <br /> Compact goals follow: <br /> Com act Action Area Goais Redwood Cit Actions <br /> Green Building and Solar Staff has prepared a green building ordinance for <br /> Council consideration and the City has adopted a <br /> recycled water ordinance. In partnership with <br /> RecycleWorks, Redwood City also offers biweekly <br /> reen buildin worksho s. <br /> Transportation Mode Shifts Redwood City focuses on transit oriented <br /> development and is making infrastructure <br /> im rovements to facilitate trans ortation mode shifts. <br /> Conservation and Energy In partnership with ABAG, PG&E and Energy <br /> Efficiency Solutions, the City is updating 16 City facilities with <br /> state-of-the-art light fixtures. It is also City policy to <br /> purchase only Energy Star appliances in City <br /> facilities. The City has a partnership with Acterra to <br /> implement the Green@Home program in the <br /> residential sector. <br /> Clean & Green Workforce The City is developing the Redwood City Verde Youth <br /> Ambassador Program and is continuing to collaborate <br /> with Redwood City 2020 on career technical <br /> education and workforce develo ment for outh. <br /> V1later Conservation Redwood City has an aggressive water conservation <br /> ro ram in face. <br /> Solid Waste Diversion Redwood City's solid waste diversion rate of 6"I% is <br /> above the state re uired rate of 50%. <br /> Fuel Efficient Vehicles Redwood City has a total of 34 heavy duty diesel <br /> vehicles scheduled to have a (Diesel Particulate <br /> Filter) DPF or replaced with cleaner diese( engine by <br /> 2011.The City fleet has been using B20 (20% bio <br /> fuel) diesel since 2006. And, 86% of the City's sedans <br /> excludin olice de artment�ehicles are h brids. <br /> Redwood City is also working closely with the community on the de�elopment of the <br /> Redwood City Community Climate Action Plan, now in draft form. Staff and the Climate <br /> Action Advisory Team are preparing to share the Plan in proposal form to gather and <br /> incorporate additional feedback from the community before finalizing the Plan for <br /> Council adoption. Every attempt is being undertaken to ensure that the Climate Action <br /> Plan is consistent with the new General Plan. <br /> By working together with the Bay Area Climate Go!laborative, Redwood City will benefit <br /> by sharing in program development, economies of scale derived from the development <br /> of Bay Area-wide educational, marketing and community information tools, improved <br /> access to federal and state grant resources and improved information and data sharing. <br />
