9A
Page 12

Topics in the guide include strategies for solar initiatives, incentives, updating and enforcing local
rules and regulations, engaging utilities, creative solar jobs, supporting economic development,
outreach and education and leading by example by installing solar on government buildings.

For more information please visit the Solar America Cities Web site at
www.solaramericacities.enerav.aov.

First Annual Central Valley Golf Tournament Draws Golfers and Dollars for
CitiPAC

On Thursday, Oct. 8, the Central Valley Division of the League held its inaugural CitiPAC Golf
Tournament in Modesto. Modesto Mayor and League First Vice President Jim Ridenour hosted
the event at the Dryden Golf Course.

Sixty-eight golfers competed for the Central Valley Division trophy. Comprised of city officials and
sponsors, the teams competed in a scramble'style tournament followed by a catered awards
dinner held at the Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club.

The winning team from Lodi included Mayor Larry Hansen, Mayor Pro Tern Phil Katzakian,
Deputy City Manager Jordan Ayers and Community Center Director James Rodems.

The foursome will have their team name en raved on the perpetual trophy.

A great success, the inaugural event had
a large turnout and raised more than
$25,000 to support CitiPAC, the
League's political action committee.

Since 2004, CitiPAC has been and
important tool in the League's political
advocacy efforts. CitiPAC funds have
been central to many of the League's
ballot measure campaigns, such as the
recent fight to defeat Proposition 98 and
its restrictions on local control of zoning
and redevelopment. These funds have
been raised exclusively through the
efforts of city officials across the state
who participate in regional fundraising
events throughout the year.

Future CltiPAC events include the Sacramento Valley Division's Golf Tournament scheduled for
Oct. 22 in Lincoln and the South San Joaquin Division's Gala in Visalia on Oct. 29.

For more information about CltiPAC visit www.citiDac.ora or contact Mike Egan, League public
affairs fundralser, at (916) 658-8271.

Become a Facebook Fan of the California Local Government Finance Almanac

Facebook users can now receive regular news and updates on California municipal finance topics
and new briefs and data from CaliforniaCltyFinance.com through Facebook.
