Nancy Radcliffe, speaking on behalf of the California Women Lead, announced a <br /> networking event at the San Mateo County History Museum and enumerated other <br /> upcoming events. <br /> Isin U.B.E. al-Otat, a resident of San Bruno, mentioned that she had read the article about <br /> the jail facility and she believes that there is room at the McGuire facility. She believes <br /> this would be a waste of tax money. She suggested that tax dollars be used towards <br /> rehabilitation instead. <br /> Barbara Sharkey shared concerns with the DUI checkpoint and she disagrees with <br /> possible sanctuary approaches. She does not support undocumented residents in this <br /> country. She wants them to be grateful and recognize what they have been given. She <br /> opined that public safety is the first order of the day and not beautification. <br /> Tea Henry-Hamilton spoke about agenda item 8B (High Speed Rail) and asked that <br /> whoever is appointed should convey her thoughts to this group. She does not understand <br /> why this even exists because she does not believe there is a need for traveling befinreen <br /> these two geographical points. She contrasted the European public transportation model <br /> with the California model. <br /> Diane Frank Limon requested answers about the DUI situation and she wants to know <br /> how the police can do their job and what happened. She would like answers to specific <br /> questions regarding the occurrence. Mayor Foust asked Ms. Limon to provide her card to <br /> the City Manager. <br /> James Jonas spoke about the Partnership Academy for Community Teamwork program. <br /> He spoke highly of city employees and how much knowledge they have to share. <br /> Mayor Foust thanked the public for the comments. She added that the jail issue will be <br /> discussed later tonight. On the topic of the DUI she mentioned that the City Manager is <br /> gathering information and will come back to Council. As far as High Speed Rail issue, <br /> Mayor Foust said this is also on the agenda. In reference to the DMB Cargill issue, the <br /> Mayor clarified that there is an application that has been submitted, but that is it. Council <br /> Member Ira made some comments regarding the DUI matter. <br /> Mayor Foust read the titles of the items to be approved via the Consent Calendar. <br /> M/S Ira/Hartnett to approve the Consent Calendar as submitted.
