REV: 09-08-2022 RL <br />2) Promote linkage to safety net services by <br />increasing the capacity of community <br />organizations to advocate on behalf of families <br />and individuals. <br />Immigrants’ access to safety net benefits will be <br />improved, which can help lift low-income families out <br />of poverty, and lead to better health outcomes for <br />children in low-income families.1 <br /> <br />Partner agencies will assist individuals and families to <br />apply for and/or retain safety net benefits: <br />•East Palo Alto/Belle Haven region: Job Train <br />will assist 100 individuals and families. <br />•Redwood City region: Fair Oaks Community <br />Center will assist 100 individuals and families. <br />•Half Moon Bay region: Coastside Hope will <br />assist 75 individuals and families. <br />3) Advocate for systemic policies that promote <br />immigrant access to safety net benefits in San Mateo <br />and provide legal services and direct representation <br />to individuals with safety net benefits and <br />immigration issues. <br /> <br />Low-income families with legal issues affecting their <br />ability to access safety net benefits, will access and <br />maintain safety net benefits for which they qualify. <br /> <br />Legal Aid will assist 150 individuals and families in San <br />Mateo County on government benefits or immigration <br />issues and complete 20 applications for immigration <br />relief. <br /> <br />LIBRE will update and market its website screening <br />tool. <br />4) LIBRE partners will actively pursue joint funding <br />opportunities that will move LIBRE toward increased <br />sustainability. <br />LIBRE Steering Committee member organizations will <br />include LIBRE in at least one new joint grant <br />application. <br /> <br />1 Arloc Sherman, Danilo Trisi, and Sharon Parrott, “Various Supports for Low-Income Families Reduce Poverty and <br />Have Long-Term Positive Effects On Families and Children,” Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, July 2013. <br />ATTY/AGR.2022.331/Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County (Page 11 of 13)
