Consultant will prepare final reports of Pipeline Evaluation and Associated
Cathodic Protection Facilities, including Alternatives and Recommendations. The
report will include all information contained within the various subtasks. Results of
all testing, in graphical or tabular form as appropriate, will be included and will
serve as a basis for future corrosion evaluation and maintenance on the pipeline.
Consultant will obtain GPS coordinates of tested facilities to be included in the
appendix to aid in future maintenance and testing needs. The reports will indicate
the condition of the pipeline at the excavated locations. Results of testing and
analysis may possibly be extrapolated to an area surrounding each excavation for
several hundred feet up- and down -station. Recommendations will be made with
respect to required repairs as well as a discussion of the possible merits of
providing electrical continuity, dielectric isolation, and further cathodic protection if
necessary.
2. Other Corrosion Tasks
Upon request of the City Engineer or designee, Consultant will provide services for tasks
related to the performance evaluation of insulating materials and other NACE standard
activities, which may include the following tasks, as needed:
• Testing soil resistivity and conductivity with pipelines
• Evaluating the effectiveness of buried insulating joints
• Evaluating the effectiveness of exposed insulating joints
• Preparing engineering reports to document measurements, interpret results, and
recommend improvements
3. Corrosion Engineering Design Services
Based on the City's review of engineering and assessment evaluation reports, the
Consultant will prepare a scope for potential construction projects to correct or mitigate
any problems or deficiencies identified during assessment. Consultant will assist the City
in preparing the scope of the recommended cathodic protection improvement projects
including problem definition, feasible alternatives analysis, and selecting the most cost-
effective project to address the problem.
The required engineering design services performed by the Consultant may include the
following tasks and other miscellaneous engineering services:
• Attend meetings with City Staff to discuss cathodic protection topics
• Conduct corrosion control design analysis and calculations
• Prepare and draft construction plans and specifications for cathodic protection
projects, including cost estimates at key design stages.
• Review material submittals for cathodic protection systems for construction
projects
• Observe construction of cathodic
construction plans and specifications.
REV: 09-13-21 RL
protection systems for adherence to
ATTY/AGR.2021.238/Alisto, Engineering Group (Water System Corrosion Protection) (Page 13 of 15)
