The <br />Public Works Services Director has determined that the contract option is better, based <br />on the following: <br />. The trench repairs are not a full-time activity and occur sporadically throughout the <br />year <br />. The cost of an additional full time crew, equipment, and materials would be <br />more expensive than this contract <br />If all trench repairs were performed by existing City crews, staff would have to delay <br />necessary pavement maintenance and temporary sidewalk maintenance in order to <br />perform the trench repairs. City staff would also not be able to perform trench repairs <br />during leaf collection season. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Funds for this service were approved and appropriated by the City Council in the FY <br />2009-2010 Water Operations and Wastewater Operations budgets in the amount of <br />$275,000.00.
