Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: July 15, 2024 <br />SUBJECT <br />Award of Contract to Cratus, Inc. for Redwood City Recycled Water Project Main City Distribution <br />System - Phase 2.C.1, with funding from the Water Capital Projects Fund, to expand the recycled water <br />system and enhance the resiliency of the City’s water supply <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the standard form construction contract <br />documents and award a contract for the Redwood City Recycled Water Project Main City Distribution <br />System - Phase 2.C.1 to Cratus, Inc. of San Francisco, CA in the amount of $1,673,600; and authorize the <br />City Manager, or their designee, to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 20 percent of the <br />original contract amount, for a total amount not to exceed $2,008,320. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Sustainability <br />BACKGROUND <br />Use of recycled water for landscaping and non-drinking water uses allows the City to limit use of drinking <br />water for these purposes, increasing the resiliency of the City’s water supply. In August 2003, the City <br />Council approved a broadly defined, flexible recycled water project and formed a citizen community task <br />force to provide input on the implementation of the project. In March 2004, the City Council accepted the <br />Task Force Report and directed staff to return with recommended actions to implement the project. <br />Since that time, Phase 1, Phase 2A, and Phase 2B of the Redwood City Recycled Water Project have been <br />completed. Phase 1 mainly consisted of improvements at the Silicon Valley Clean Water treatment plant <br />at Redwood Shores and the distribution system in Redwood Shores. Phase 2A extended the transmission <br />and distribution system to Downtown Redwood City (crossing under Highway 101 to the intersection of <br />6.B. - Page 1 of 4 <br />25
