From:Liza Bizzarro <br />To:Council-Diane Howard <br />Cc:GRP-City Council <br />Subject:112 Vera Ave Redwood City Comments <br />Date:Monday, July 15, 2024 3:02:19 PM <br />Hello, <br />I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed <br />construction of multifamily housing at 112 Vera Ave in Redwood <br />City. <br />We own property in that neighborhood, on Lincoln Ave. and are well <br />aware of the neighborhood and its current density problems. <br />Our building provides 2 off street spaces per 2 bedroom unit and 1 <br />off street space per 1 bedroom unit. <br />There is NO STREET PARKING available in that neighborhood for <br />guests. <br />It is safe to generalize, and predict that most tenants in that <br />neighborhood avail themselves of the “ 2 + 1 rule “ allowing two <br />persons per bedroom and one per extra common room. Children <br />don’t count in that calculation. Many live with greater density than <br />this. <br />The 112 Vera Ave Project asks for 178 units - 25 studios and 153 1 <br />bedroom units. That allows 2 persons per studio and 3 persons per <br />1 bedroom unit. <br />Taken to a ridiculous, but very possible conclusion this would allow <br />509 adults with cars to reside in a building that is providing SIX off <br />street parking spaces. This is incomprehensible!!!! <br />Please consider this when looking at multifamily projects in <br />Redwood City. The density allowances without parking provided will <br />make already dense neighborhoods unlivable and will destroy the <br />character of single family neighborhoods with currently walkable <br />treelined sidewalks.
