Access to the building materials that are imported through the Port also <br />support this regional priority. <br />1.1.6. History of Public Support and Engagement <br />The interchange is a legacy project that has garnered public support over the years. More than <br />35 years ago, problems were already severe enough that the interchange was designated a <br />priority by Caltrans, and included in San Mateo County’s 1988 sales tax Measure (Measure A.) <br />Voters con�nue to elect to tax themselves for this project; County voters approved addi�onal <br />transporta�on-related sales taxes in 2004 and 2018, the project is a priority expenditure of <br />both Measure A (re-authorized in 2004) and 2018’s Measure W. <br />1.2.1 Project Status <br />In 2023-2024, Redwood City, Caltrans, and its partner agencies are working diligently on <br />Right-of-Way tasks, while we are aggressively seeking to complete the funding package <br />in order to advance to construc�on in 2026. <br />Now that the Environmental and Design phases have been substan�ally concluded, this <br />document cons�tutes the plan for project communica�ons and protocols (Plan) to <br />support the Project in securing the right-of-way and final funds needed to build the <br />Project. This Plan will also lay the groundwork for communica�ons during Construc�on <br />and beyond. The Project Management Team, with support from the City and partner <br />agency staff, will execute tasks as described below.
