City Council Member Report of Conferences and Meetings Attended <br /> <br /> A. City Council Report of Meeting/Conference Attendance <br />Council Member Eakin reported that she and Council Member Martinez Saballos <br />attended the July 11 San Mateo County Family Justice Center Community Forum <br />on Domestic Violence. <br /> <br /> 8.B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> <br /> A. 2x2x2 RCSD and SUHSD Meeting – Council Member Eakin gave an update. <br /> <br /> B. Business License Tax Ad Hoc Committee – Council Member Aguirre gave an <br />update. <br /> <br /> 8.C. City Manager Update (Oral) Update – City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz gave the <br />following updates: <br /> The San Mateo County Elections office completed verification of signatures of the <br />initiative to impose additional rent control and just cause eviction limits in <br />Redwood City, and due to receiving an insufficient number of valid signatures, <br />the petition did not qualify for the November 2024 ballot <br /> Announced and welcomed the City’s new Engineering & Transportation Director <br />Tanisha Werner <br /> Announced the City’s Household Hazardous Waste disposal event on July 27 – <br />appointments can be made via the City’s website <br /> <br />Mayor Gee announced that the meeting will be adjourned immediately following the <br />Closed Session item, and that the meeting will be adjourned in memory of Leah Nelson <br />Ezray. Council Member Howard read a tribute to Leah Nelson Ezray. <br /> <br />9. CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br /> 9.A. Closed session regarding Workers’ Compensation pursuant to California Government <br />Code Section 54956 and labor negotiations pursuant to California Government Code <br />Section 54957.6 <br /> <br />There was no public comment. <br /> <br />The City Council convened Closed Session at 8:30 p.m. to discuss the following: <br /> <br />1. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – EXISTING LITIGATION <br /> <br />Litigation has been initiated formally pursuant to paragraph (1) of subdivision (d) of <br />California Government Code Section 54956.9:
