ATTY/RESO.0079/HRAC 800 MAIN
REV: 07-14-23 JB
with Redwood City’s General Plan Goals and Policies for historic resources, and
consistency with the City’s adopted Historic Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 40 of the
Municipal Code); and 4) the Project has been designed in a manner that is consistent
with the SOIS and meets the original intent of the DTPP standards and guidelines for
this historic resource.

Section 6. Pursuant to DTPP Section 2.1.4.A, the HRAC hereby finds that the
Project has been reviewed by a qualified architect or architectural historian approved by
the City and meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards
published in the Code of Federal Regulations (36 CFR part 61), who has recommended
to the HRAC, for all the reasons set forth in detail in the TreanorHL Report, that the
Project adheres to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic
Properties with Guidelines for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring, and Reconstructing
Historic Buildings (Rehabilitation treatment), should retain its status as a City Landmark
and District Contributor, and will not detrimentally alter, destroy or adversely affect any
exterior architectural feature of the Historic Landmark consistent with the requirement of
Section 40.10.A of the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance.

Section 7. Pursuant to Section 2.1.4.C, the HRAC hereby finds, for all the reasons
set forth in detail in the TreanorHL Report, that the Project will not create a substantial
adverse change in the significance of the Historic Main Street District, and will protect its
continued eligibility for listing on the California Register, because the Project has been
designed in a manner that is consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for
the Treatment of Historic Properties and retains and emulates the character-defining
features of the District.

Section 8. Under Section 2.1.4.D, the HRAC hereby finds, for all the reasons set
forth in detail in the TreanorHL Report, that the proposed project will not cause a
substantial adverse change in the significance of any historic resources adjacent to the
Project site and will protect the continued eligibility of all such adjacent historic resources
for listing on the California Register, because the project complies with the Secretary of
the Interior Standards and does not physically alter, demolish or destroy any portions of
the adjacent resource.

Section 9. Consistent with Section 40.10 of the Redwood City Municipal Code,
the HRAC recommends that the Planning Commission determine that, a) the proposed
project will not detrimentally alter, destroy, or adversely affect any exterior architectural
feature of the historic landmark; and b) the proposed improvements are consistent with
the Historic Main Street District and do not adversely affect the character of the district.

Section 10. This Resolution, as adopted by the HRAC on July 19, 2023, shall
constitute the Committee’s full recommendation to the Planning Commission pertaining
to the proposed Project at 800 Main Street.
