There is indication on the plans that the plans for the fire alarm system will be a deferred submittal. 65. Premises Identification (Address Numbers) - Indicate on the plans where the premises identification (address) will be located and the size (minimum 12”) in an illuminated contrasting background facing the street from which the building takes the address CFC 505. a. The plans indicate the proposed location, size of the numbers, and illumination of the required address markings. 66. Portable Fire Extinguishers Required - Portable fire extinguishers, with a minimum rating of 2A:10BC are required to be permanently installed throughout the building in locations that are within 75 feet of travel from all portions of the building in compliance with NFPA 10 and CFC 906. a. The plans indicate locations of the required fire extinguishers. 67. Gurney Accommodating Elevators Required - Elevators are required to be provided in all buildings that are four stories or more. Elevators shall be provided for fire department emergency access to all floors. The elevator car shall be of such a size and arrangement to accommodate an ambulance stretcher 24 inches by 84 inches with not less than 6-inch radius corners, in the horizontal, open position and shall be identified by the international symbol for emergency medical service. The symbol shall not be less than 3 inches high and shall be placed inside on both sides of the hoist-way door frame CBC 3002.4. a. The plans indicate that the proposed elevators will meet the requirements of this section. 68. Car Stacker System - The plans indicate a number of “car-stackers” are proposed to be installed in the garage. The required fire sprinkler system in the garage area containing car-stackers will need to be designed to an “extra hazard group 2” as defined in NFPA Standard 13 with a minimum design area of 2500 square feet. Standard coverage side-wall sprinkler heads shall be placed to protect the lower vehicles in a car-stacker configuration. In addition, one hour rated separation will need to be placed so that the maximum fire area of car-stackers does not exceed 1500 square feet. a. The plans have included a copy of the Redwood City Fire Prevention Standard 500.1. b. The plans now indicate the location of the required standpipe connections at the entrance to the garage. General Requirements 69. Signs – Future signs require a separate sign permit and shall conform to the requirements of the Downtown Precise Plan and Chapter 3 of the Municipal Code. [SDR][PLANNING 70. Modifications - Modifications to the approved plans require Planning review and approval prior to building permit issuance. Minor project modifications required to meet building, fire, and safety codes at time of building permit plan check may be allowed, at the City’s discretion.
