This information must be dated and indicate the information is the most current information available from the water purveyor. If the available water supply does not meet fire code requirements, water system infrastructure improvements will be required CFC 507.1. 58. Fire Flow - The utility report indicates that the required fire flow is 2,125 GPM for this project. Fire flow testing indicates that this fire flow is available from the existing water main. 59. Fire Hydrants - The number and location of Fire Hydrants based on the required fire flow for this project shall be determined utilizing Appendix B and C of the CFC. a. As per Table C102.1 of the California Fire Code the required number of fire hydrants is two based on the required fire flow of 2,125 GPM. b. This condition will be satisfied with the installation of the proposed new fire hydrant on Veterans Blvd. c. Approval is contingent on actual flow testing on new and existing fire hydrants. 60. Automatic Fire Sprinklers / Standpipe Systems – The proposed building is required to be equipped throughout with an automatic fire sprinkler system and manual wet Class I standpipe systems with hose connections on intermediate landings in stairwells, the roof, and the garage meeting NFPA Standards 13 and 14 CBC 905.3.1. a. There is indication on the plans that the automatic fire sprinkler system is to be a deferred submittal. 61. Required Standpipe System - There is no indication that the required standpipe system will also be a deferred submittal or that it will be included with the automatic fire sprinkler plans. 62. Fire Department Connections – FDC’s to the fire sprinkler / standpipe system shall be located at the fire access side of the building within 50 feet of a Fire Hydrant. a. The proposed location of the FDC is within the required 50 foot distance to the existing fire hydrant located on Brewster Ave. 63. Emergency Escape and Rescue Openings – All sleeping rooms shall be provided with emergency escape and rescue openings in accordance with CBC 1030. a. The plans indicate the residential portion of the building above the podium will be Type IIIA construction. With an NFPA 13 compliant automatic fire sprinkler system installed, the requirement for rescue and escape windows will be waived. 64. Fire Alarm System Required – UL Central Station fully addressable fire alarm systems are required meeting NFPA 72. Provide plans and voltage drop calculations for the design of these systems. Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detection are required. A remote annunciator shall be located just inside the front entrance to the building.
