Fire Department Connections – FDC’s to the fire sprinkler / standpipe systems shall be located at <br />the fire access side of all buildings within 50 feet of a Fire Hydrant. <br />a. The plans indicate that the proposed locations of the fire department connections are <br />within 50 feet of the existing and proposed new fire hydrants. <br />61. Fire Alarm System Required – UL Central Station fully addressable fire alarm systems are required <br />meeting NFPA 72. Provide plans and voltage drop calculations for the design of these systems. <br />a. The plans indicate that this will be a deferred submittal. <br />b. All buildings required to have fire pumps installed for automatic fire sprinklers and <br />standpipes are required to have back-power sources in the form of back-up <br />generators with a fuel storage capacity of 12 hours if electric fire pumps are proposed <br />to be utilized as the fire department no longer considers Pacific Gas and Electric <br />power to be reliable with the impending Public Safety Power Shutoffs. CFC 913.2. <br />c. An acceptable alternative is diesel driven fire pumps with fuel storage for 12 hours of <br />run time. <br />62. Premises Identification (Address Numbers) - Indicate on the plans where the premises <br />identification (address) will be located and the size (minimum 12”) in a contrasting background <br />facing the street from which the building takes the address CFC 505. <br />63. Portable Fire Extinguishers Required - Portable fire extinguishers, with a minimum classification of <br />2A:10BC are required to be permanently installed in all buildings in the common areas within 75 <br />feet of travel from all portions of the building in compliance with NFPA 10 and CFC 906. <br />64. Fire Apparatus Access Road - <br />a. As the proposed structures exceed 30 feet in height, at least two means of fire <br />apparatus access shall be provided for each building CFC D104.1. <br />b. As the proposed structures exceed 62,000 square feet in area, two separate and <br />approved fire apparatus access roads are required CFC D104.2. <br />c. The width of the required fire apparatus access roads shall be a minimum of 26 feet <br />to accommodate aerial apparatus D105.2. And have an unobstructed vertical <br />clearance of not less than 13 feet 6 inches 503.2.1. <br />d. Fire apparatus access roads shall be designed and engineered to support the imposed <br />loads of fire apparatus (75,000 pounds) and shall be surfaced with concrete or AC only <br />so as to provide all weather driving capabilities 503.2.3. <br />e. At least one of the required access routes for each building shall be located within a <br />minimum of 15 feet and a maximum of 30 feet from the building, and shall be <br />positioned parallel to one entire side of the building as per 2016 CFC D105.3. <br />i.
