ATTY/RESO.0115/PC RESO APPROVING PROJECT WITH DRAFT CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL - 557 E. BAYSHORE ROAD
REV: 12-21-2022 VR
d. The requirement for emergency escape and rescue windows and therefore ladder
pads may be eliminated if a more fire resistive construction type such as Type IIIA as well
as an NFPA 13 compliant fire sprinkler system is utilized.

75. Available Water Supply to Project Site - Provide current fire flow information from the
water purveyor to indicate the maximum available water flow in gallons per minute (GPM) at a
minimum of 20 pounds per square inch (psi) residual pressure. This information must be dated
within six months. [COA][FIRE]

76. Fire Hydrants - Based on the required fire flow for this project, the number of fire
hydrants and the required distance between them and to the property lines will be determined
utilizing Appendix C of the CFC. [COA][FIRE]

77. Automatic Fire Sprinkler / Automatic Wet Standpipe Systems Required – As the
proposed buildings are four or more stories in height all of the buildings and garage areas are
required to be equipped with automatic wet standpipe / fire sprinkler systems. Provide plans and
hydraulic calculations for the design of these systems. The plans shall also indicate on-sight
exterior automatic wet standpipe connections and interior automatic standpipe connections in
all of the buildings stairwells on the intermediate landings with one extending to the roof that
need to be included in the hydraulic calculations. [COA][FIRE]

78. Fire Department Connection – FDC’s to the fire sprinkler / standpipe systems shall be
located at the fire access side of all buildings within 50 feet of a Fire Hydrant. [COA][FIRE]

79. Fire Alarm Systems Required – UL Central Station monitored fully addressable fire alarm
systems are required in all buildings meeting NFPA 72. Provide plans and voltage drop
calculations for the design of these systems. [COA][FIRE]

80. Premises Identification (Address Numbers) - Indicate on the plans where the premises
identification (address) will be located and the size (minimum 12”) illuminated with a contrasting
background facing the street from which the building takes the address CFC 505. [COA][FIRE]

81. Gurney Accommodating Elevator Requirement -– Elevators in buildings that are four
stories or more shall provide for fire department emergency access to all floors. At least one
elevator car in each building shall be of such a size and arrangement to accommodate an
ambulance gurney 24 inches by 84 inches with not less than 6-inch radius corners, in the
horizontal, open position and shall be identified by the international symbol for emergency
medical service. The symbol shall not be less than 3 inches high and shall be placed inside on both
sides of the hoist-way door frame CBC 3002.4. [COA][FIRE]

82. Portable Fire Extinguishers Required - Portable fire extinguishers, with a minimum
classification of 2A:10BC are required to be permanently installed in all buildings within 75 feet
of travel from all portions of the building in compliance with NFPA 10 and CFC 906.
