Reference by manufacturers, brands or models is to establish type and <br />quality of materials desired. Substitutions of materials of equal quality will <br />be permitted upon the prior written approval. <br />1.4 SUBMITTALS <br />A. The Contractor must submit, as one package, RRFB product data and <br />manufacturer’s instructions including: <br />1. Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons <br /> <br />2. Pole and Foundation <br /> <br />3. Pedestrian Signage <br />4. Accessible Pedestrian Signal Push Button Assembly <br />5. RRFB Solar Panel, Controller, and Enclosure <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 GENERAL <br />A. RRFB shall comply with FHWA Interim Approval for Optional Use of Rectangular <br />Rapid Flashing Beacons (IA-21), dated March 20, 2018. The assembly shall be <br />pedestrian push button activated. <br />B. The solar-powered RRFB system shall be rated for a minimum of 300, 20 second <br />activations per day, year-round operations. <br />C. Shall include wireless activation of all assemblies at a crosswalk when any one <br />unit is actuated. <br />D. All products shall be new. <br />2.2 Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons <br />A. The RRFB housing shall contain two primary light bars on each side mounted in <br />compliance with MUTCD requirements. The housing shall have side emitting <br />pedestrian confirmation lights. The LEDs used shall be rated for a minimum 15- <br />year life. The RRFB shall meet SAE J595 class 1 intensity and SAE J578 <br />chromaticity. <br />B. The RRFB housing shall be made of powder-coated aluminum with a minimum <br />thickness of 0.125”, and shall provide a mounting mechanism allowing for <br />directional rotation of the primary light bars toward oncoming traffic at curves, <br />corners, and roundabouts. <br />C. The controller shall auto-adjust RRFB brightness based on ambient light levels,
