City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
inspections to report annually to its administering authority, which is the City Council. Section 13146.4
requires the administering authority to acknowledge receipt of the report in a resolution or a similar
formal document.
ANALYSIS
The Redwood City Fire Department uses the fiscal year calendar for the annual cycle of inspections in
order to line up with the annual budget and fees as approved by the City’s Fee Schedule that are collected
during the Fire and Life Safety Inspection process. In compliance with the California Health and Safety
Code Sections 13146.2 and 13146.3, 99% of all property types required by state mandate to be inspected
annually were inspected in FY 23/24.
The attachment to this staff report shows the FY 23/24 inspection results for state-mandated
inspections. The state mandates that the listed occupancy types receive an initial annual inspection. It
does not mandate that any violations noted are corrected within the annual cycle.
Mandated inspections include:
R2: Multi-Family Residential
E: Educational Facilities
R1: Hotel/Motel
I-3: Institutional Jails
High Rise Buildings
Camps
The properties that did not achieve complete correction of all violations within FY 23/24 are continuously
followed up on until violations are corrected.
EQUITY IMPACT STATEMENT
This is a California State mandate.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact anticipated.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
6.N. - Page 2 of 5
568
