City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
Construction Start
Staff tentatively expects construction to start at the end of October and complete all construction work
in February 2025. Staff will notify all residents and businesses in the downtown area who might be
affected by the construction. Additionally, the contractor is required to notify the residents and businesses
within the immediate area two weeks prior to the start of work.
Figure 2: Metal Frame Structure
FISCAL IMPACT
In FY 2016-17, the City appropriated $300,000 of Park Impact Fees for the Jardin de Ninos Park Expansion
Project. California’s 2018 Prop 68 Parks Bond Act Grant Funding allocated $230,000 to the City of
Redwood City for the project. Lastly, in FY 2024-25, $200,000 was allocated from the City’s Capital
Improvement Program (CIP) for the project. The PRCS Department’s General Fund operating budget will
cover the contingency allowance.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency, the City determined that the project is categorically exempt from review under the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15303 (Class 3) because
the project includes the construction of a new small accessory (appurtenant) structure and Section 15304
(Class 4) because the project consists of new gardening or landscaping, including the replacement of
existing conventional landscaping with water-efficient landscaping. Furthermore, the project design
complies with the City’s Engineering Standards and currently accepted practices.
6.D. - Page 4 of 5
120
